Shared memories are a treasured part of close families and friendships. It is a precious thing when someone ‘really knows you’ because you’ve been through so much together. Even if only one other person knows you intimately, it can make a big difference to how you feel about yourself and your place in the world.
My grown up children sometimes get offended when I forget what their favourite food is, or details in a story they’ve told me. It seems the more I remember about them, the more special they feel they are to me. Poor things, having such a forgetful father!
For other families, it’s more serious. It's a sad reality in this broken world that many of us lose our special place in the memory of significant others. This can happen through dementia, broken or strained relationships, distance and time or even death. Can we keep our sense of ‘specialness' when our special place with others is gone?
There is One whose memory will never fade, who knows us intimately and calls us His Own. Even when everything has turned to dust, God will not forget us, and will never let us go. The One who made us loves us and enjoys the things that make us unique. Not only that, but in Christ He chooses to forget our sins, and help us to grow into what He created us to be.

PRAYER & PRAISE
Psalm 91:1-2
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
